A native of Manchester, England, Clowes had a standout career at Clemson University where he led the Tigers to an appearance in the 2015 College Cup final. He will be looking to carve out a place in the United midfield in 2016.
D.C. United selected Clowes with the 32nd overall pick in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft following a trade with Orlando City SC in which United received Targeted Allocation Money and the 32nd pick, and Orlando received the 13th overall pick.
In 2015 Clowes was named a MAC Hermann Semifinalist, NSCAA Second Team All-America, NSCAA First Team All-South Region, and First Team All-Atlantic Coast Conference. Was named the ACC Tournament’s MVP in 2014.

Tom enters his first season as the assistant men’s soccer coach at Erskine College. Prior to Erskine, Tom was a four-year starting goalkeeper at Lee University in Cleveland, TN. While at Lee, he helped lead the team to the 2014 NCCAA National Championship while being named NCCAA’s 1st team All-American that season. He was named NCCAA 1st team All-Region in 2-13 and 2015, while also being named NCAA National Player of the Week once and 1st team All-Conference in the Gulf South Conference in 2015. Hassall also played three years at Chattanooga FC NPSL and seven years at Manchester City FC.
